Microcurrent, also known as a non-surgical face lift, was originated in US in the 1960’s working with post stroke and bell’s palsy patients. It is used in the medical field for muscle rehabilitation, treating macular degeneration, and wound healing. Microcurrent has a low-level electrical current and is measured in micro-amps and milliamps.
What is Microcurrent? Microcurrent is the re-education of the myo-filaments by stimulation with small amounts of electricity. The exact amount of electricity that mirrors the body’s own natural current, triggering a chemical reaction at a cellular level to increase the effectiveness of how our bodies use ATP, in other words adenosine triphosphate.
This treatment works by firming the muscle, increasing blood flow and nutrients to the muscle, improving muscle tone and qualify of skin, strengthening the skin by re-education muscle. Microccurent causes muscles ti contract, in other words during this treatment the muscles will flex and relax.
Although this treatment is affordable compared to surgical face lift, not everyone is a candidate for it. These are the least of contraindications for this treatment and precautions to consider:
Pace Maker, Pregnancy, Epilepsy, Melanoma, Varicose Veins, and Phlebitis.
This don’t always mean you can receive this treatment, it just mean that the following should be considered.
Diabetes, Acne Rosacea, Light Sensitive Migraines, Metal pins and plates, Stroke and Bells palsey.
This treatment requires a serious, its progressive not aggressive, non-invasive. The recommended treatments are 2x a week 72 hrs apart, or every 3 days. 12 treatment limit. After 6 weeks, 1x a month for maintenance is required to keep the results achieved.
