Microderm was originated in Europe and entered the US around 1995. Today there is over 70 models available for estheticians and physicians use. Microderm is a mechanical exfoliation machine which utilizes powerful electronic vaccum with high grade micro crystals sprayed through hand piece.

Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage, and stretch marks. Microdermabrasion can: Improve age spots and black heads.

Microderm vs. Chemical peel

Microderm is a mechanical method of exfoliation. It can exfoliate more than a 30% peel, but does not have all the same benefits of the chemical peel. Microderm removes more epidermal cells esthetic devices effect superficial layers, but can stimulate cell regeneration in the dermis. Chemical peels produce chemical reaction that cause either a karatolytic or proliferation response on the skin. They can penetrate both the epidermis and the dermis depending on the strenght.

Two Key factors of Microderm:

Crystal Flow: resurfaces the skin texture.

Vacuum Suction- Stimulate the lymph system which augments the immune system, increases blood circulation which brings oxygen to the skin, and stimulates collagen and elastin fibers which thickens the dermis.

Microderm benefits:

  • sun damage
  • pigmentation
  • comedones
  • superficial scars and wrinkles
  • enlarged pores
  • coarsely textured skin

  • among them would be LED and microcurrent
  • Chemical exfoliants, anti-aging ampoules and serum product penetration devices such as galvanic(iontophoresis) and ultrasound.
